Getting Serious About Losing Weight

So Spring is maybe around the corner. This year, Wisconsin is holding on to winter in a big way. I am in the Spring mood and so my warm weather clothes hopefully will be coming out soon. The thing I am dreading is the fitting into those clothes. I never struggled with my weight until after high school. I then got diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or PCOS when I was 22, and it has been a struggle ever since. I can lose weight if I really try, which is a blessing because most people with PCOS have a really hard time even with trying. It just is deflating to know that I have to exercise the rest of my life to stay within a healthy weight.

I got to the perfect weight about a year and a half ago. I was almost back to where I was in high school. Yeah, I worked hard and became somewhat of a runner. However, last year brought on some more medical issues and I stopped exercising like I should. I ended up with a vaginal hysterectomy in Nov of 2010. I was able to keep my ovaries but I have gained 30 pounds compared to last summer. Yikes. I have to start all over again.

If you read my goals for this year, it is to loose 30 to 35 pounds and run a 5K. Well I am on my way, but I thought by putting it all out there that it would make me more accountable. I am running a 6k in May, and I have lost 5 pounds. I have a long way to go, but I am on my way. Please feel free to hold me accountable. Ask me about it once in awhile. I want to fit my clothes, and most importantly I want to be healthy. I have high blood pressure, which I was diagnosed with last year as well when I was skinny. I want to get off of my medicine not have to increase it due to my laziness, so please pray for me and my determination to get skinny and healthy.

Well have a good evening,
Shelly
