Snow fun and Ice Cream

So it is the middle of April in Wisconsin, A week ago it was in the 70's and a week from now it is supposed to be in 60s. However, yesterday and today it is like this.
It started snowing yesterday, and we have gotten about 6 inches. It went from total Spring loveliness to this. Kind of sad, kind of beautiful. This is Wisconsin for you though. It can snow well into May.

Our puppy, who is getting huge, and being a winter puppy is in heaven. She was missing the snow. Allie was so happy to. It was perfect playing snow. Fairly warm outside, and big, heavy, fluffy flakes. They played outside for over an hour.

They had so much fun, and Allie did her favorite thing. She ate tons of snow. She absolutely loves it. That gave me an idea. I wanted to make snow ice cream all winter, but kept forgetting about it. This was perfect, fresh snow, and a little girl who loves to eat it.

Here is the recipe I used. I found it on-line by typing in snow ice cream recipe. Anywho,

1 gallon fresh snow
1cup sugar
1 T vanilla
2 cups milk
makes 8 servings

Gather the snow, and add all of the other ingredients. Mix it all together, and serve. Super easy, and really super yummy. We put chocolate sauce on it. My husband would not eat it though. He said he will not eat dirty water. He thinks anything that falls from the sky is dirty. I can see he logic, but well I still am going to eat it.

Well that was our evening yesterday. I have been working on tons of projects lately. Hopefully I will get better about posting and show you some. Have a great day.

God Bless,
Shelly

So Tired, so busy, and Proud of my Wisconsin Repulican Senate and Assembly

Yawn, Happy Friday,
My new puppy, Josie, has decided as of late to awake at 5:30 am. She barks and whines constantly until we release her from her kennel. I am a morning person, but not that early. The sad thing is once I am up, I am up. I cannot go back to sleep, well at least not for a few hours, and well by then it is time to be up. Ugghh. Otherwise she is a pretty good puppy, and she sure is cute.
My new job is going great. I love working for my hubby. I have the hottest and sweetest boss ever. Guess I can't come home and ever complain about him to him. However, I am busy and just plain tired. I have crafted as of late, but have not had the energy to post it. We are getting internet at work next week though, so hopefully I can start posting then.

I also cannot do this post and not mention the Wisconsin Union Debate. I have always love politics, and have an opinion about most things. May not always be the most educated opinion, and I will be the first to admit it, but I do care. I am so proud of my fellow republicans for getting the job done. They were elected by we the people, and have had the guts to do there job, even if the rest of the county does not like it. I am praying for them, that they will stay strong in their convictions, and safe during this trial.

Anywho,  have a great weekend

Great Weekend!

Had a wonderful weekend, a busy one, but a great one. Friday night, was our monthly H.O.T. Mammas night out. It was also my friends 30th birthday. We went out to a Japanese Steak House, and then went over to my sister-in-laws house to hang out. The lemon bread I made by the way was delicious.
The birthday girl, Shaylyn, is on the right and I am on the left.
Eating her fried ice cream birthday treat.

This is a picture that my brother-in-law took of all of us girls back at there house. He is a photographer, you should visit his site at www.thatphotog.com.  We had a blast dressing up and acting like teenagers.

Saturday night, Shaylyn's parents had a surprise birthday party for her. I don't have any pictures from that, but we had a great time. She was really surprised. On Sunday, we went to my sister, Stacey's house. We watched the Packers beat the bears. I am not a football fan, so I scrapbooked. It was a good time though. Here is what our puppy, Josie, looked like after the busy weekend.

Isn't she the cutest thing ever. She is such a good puppy.
Anyway, that was my great weekend. Talk to you this week.

Making Misfits Mine Monday and Answered Prayer

Happy Monday Everyone,

What a weekend. Some things good and some things not so good. On the good note, no great note, my friend's baby is still here. They took him off of everything on Saturday since no change had happened. Well despite what the doctors told them, he is still here. He even is looking around, and moving a little. This can be explained by no other then God. They still do not know what damage has been done, or what the brain activity is like. I believe they plan to be doing more tests soon. I realize that this does not mean he is out of the woods, but God has shown His power already. Miracles still happen everyday. We also had a good time with family on Saturday. We went to look at a house for my husband's sister, and had a Green Bay Packer party at our house. I could care less about football, but the boys were happy the Packers won. Josie, our puppy, is doing great with house training. She has only had a couple of accidents in the last few days. Yeah! The bad note, I got really sick Saturday night through some of today. Glad I am better. My hubby had to work a lot this weekend, so I did not get much help. Thankfully my daughter and new puppy are pretty mellow and like to chill.

My daughter and I did some low key crafts this weekend, to keep her occupied. We melted some of her broken crayons into some new ones.

Allie peeling wrappers off of crayons
Helping me break the crayons(Nice Face)
Here they are ready to melt.
Here they are done. So nice to not waste them.

We also did a snowman craft with Marshmallows. I got the idea here http://www.katiesnestingspot.com/2011/01/marshmallow-snowman.html.  This was Allie's first time with Elmer's glue, and she did great. I drew the outline of the snowman, and let her place the rest where she wanted. She has her own interpretation of a snowman, I guess. :)

This one definitely goes in the scrapbook.

I also have a couple of items for Making Misfits Mine Monday. We went to Goodwill on Saturday and got a couple of things, and my aunt went through her closet. Got some great clothes to wear right away, and a couple for recycling.

I collect Blue Glass, and I was so excited to get this for $3.
Pretty cute! Going to add something to it for V-Day.
Plain t-shirts, but I already have great plans for them.
These are too short, but I have some great ideas for these.
These are ugly, but I will come up with something.

Well that is pretty much it for today. Have to get supper going before the hubby gets home. Talk to you all tomorrow.

Donuts and Doggy Training

A little over four years ago, I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. It is an intolerance to gluten which is basically found in wheat, rye, barley, and sometimes oats. Basically everything. They have come a long way in these four years with what is available in our small town. Most things you can get, but they can  be expensive. The thing I miss the most is a good donut. There is a company that makes some, but they come frozen and a thawed donut is just not the same. For Christmas, I got a mini donut maker from the adult gift exchange on my husband's side. It even came with seven recipes. This is a heaven sent blessing. Sometimes taking a recipe that is not gluten free and making it so can turn out weird, but  this was wonderful.

I made a chocolate glaze for them too. Yum Yum!
This is the wonderful new contraption.
This is who makes the thing; Bella Cucina

I used the Basic Donut Recipe from the instruction book that came with it.

1 cup flour ( I used Authentic Foods All Purpose Gluten-Free Flour the Classical Blend)
1/2 cup flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
4 tbsp cooking oil ( I used canola)

Stir dry ingredients together. Add egg, vanilla, and milk and beat 1 minute with mixer or by hand. Add oil and continue to beat for 1 minute more. Bake according to the machines directions. This made 25 mini donuts.

I then mixed 3 tbsp chocolate chips and 1 tbsp milk in bowl. Microwaved it for 3 intervals of 10 seconds for the glaze.

It was so delicious!  The kids thought so too.

My niece, Leah   My nephew, Lincoln    My daughter, Allison

On another note, puppy training is going well. Josie already knows to ring the bell by the door to go outside, and goes potty outside most of the time. I know we have a long way to go, but I am pleased so far. She definitely has spunk, and loves to chew. I have told Allie a lot in the last few days, that if it is on the floor that it is far game for Josie. The floor is staying cleaner :)

I hope tomorrow to post some pictures and maybe a tutorial of a must have for a puppy in the cold, Wisconsin winter. Until then, have a good night, and God bless.

Let the Blogging Begin!

Well it is 2011, and I am ready to start this whole blogging thing. I have become thoroughly addicted to reading other peoples blogs, especially crafting blogs. I feel a kindred spirit connection to most of you, and so I will join the masses. I am going to warn you all in advance that I am not an English specialist, so i am sure that my grammer will not always be great. My photography is also not first rate, but you will get the jest of my life.
My little family and I just got back from a week up north at my in-laws cottage. We were totally refreshed, but then we did something silly and picked up a six-week old puppy on the way home.

Her name is Josie, and my daughter is completely excited about her. Well we all are.
Anywho, I have been up a lot the last few nights with this little cutie. I am tired, but the potty training is going well. We are using the crate training technique. Will keep you up to date about how this goes. I also started watching my 2 1/2 year old niece and nephew again today. Two more months to go before Allie and I start going to work with dad. I am excited. My husband manages and part owns a metal salvage yard. I am going to be his receptionist soon. Should be fun.

Here are My Goals for 2011

  1. Lose 30 pounds again this year, and this time keep it off. I can lose weight, but it comes back too quickly.
  2. While losing the weight, I want to run my first 5K. I learned I really like running. I just need to keep at it.
  3. Become more consistent in doing my daily devotions.
  4. Help start a pregnancy loss and stillbirth support group at our local hospital
  5. Make some aspect of every gift I give this year.
  6. Keep up to date on this years scrap booking, and start getting caught up on years past.
  7. Finish my kitchen.
  8. Read 100 books, and at least 20 of them need to be learning type books not just for pleasure.
  9. To many more goals to list, but I will talk about them throughout the year.
Well I really look forward to getting to know you, and for you to get to know me. I am ready for this journey, but please be patient with me. I am learning all of the ins and outs of the blogging world.
